Regen J. Shanzer

Regen Shanzer is an associate who focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation. Her practice includes the areas of litigation, banking and financial services, and creditors' rights, representing banks and investors in a variety of matters. Ms. Shanzer also handles class action defense and multi-district litigation (MDL), products liability, and environmental and toxic torts matters. Through her plaintiff work, she has extensive experience in cross-examining and reviewing the reports of neuropsychologists. Ms. Shanzer served as a judicial clerk with the Honorable Maxine Cohen-Lando at the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court for Miami-Dade County, Florida.

Significant Representations

  • Assisted plaintiff's counsel in a 2006 trial on behalf of Costa Rican fern growers against a chemicals manufacturer for damages caused to their crops by a fungicide. Plaintiffs were awarded a jury verdict in excess of $150 million.
  • Assisted plaintiff's counsel in settling the medical negligence case for a widow against doctors and hospitals for $1.1 million for the wrongful death of her husband, caused by misdiagnosis of a heart condition.
  • Assisted plaintiff's counsel in settling a multi-million-dollar claim for clients who suffered brain injury caused by exposure to carbon monoxide leaking from a faulty houseboat generator.
  • Settled personal injury case for a woman who was chronically exposed to carbon monoxide in her home for more than a year.
  • Settled § 1983 action against the City of Davie, Florida, on behalf of a client who was a victim of police brutality. The confidential settlement was six figures.
