The Firm's Labor and Employment group offers clients experienced, sophisticated and cost-effective nationwide and local representation concerning all aspects of personnel-related legal matters.
Our strong, experienced, highly credentialed Labor and Employment lawyers combine substantial practical experience with substantive expertise gained from serving in the highest levels of the federal regulatory agencies, including the United States Department of Labor.
The Firm applies this experience across the practice field: employment discrimination, both agency and civil employment litigation, traditional labor work, investigations of employee complaints and whistleblower claims, workforce issues involving high-level strategic planning and collective bargaining, and other areas of regulation, such as OSHA, the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, and state and federal wage and hour regulation. We have considerable expertise in defending employers against significant class action and multi-plaintiff cases. We also have the capacity to represent individuals in negotiating employment agreements and pursuing legal claims against employers. These cases range from major Fair Labor Standards Act collective action and state law wage-hour class action cases to employment tort and breach-of-contract cases. With lawyers of the practice group in Miami and Washington, D.C., the Firm can keep clients informed of the latest developments in state and federal labor and employment law, assist companies, labor organizations, and individuals subject to state or federal regulatory action.
In order to meet client needs most efficiently, our Labor and Employment group also draws on the experience of other lawyers firm wide, such as the Firm's Immigration and Customs and Business Litigation groups, to provide a complete range of solutions for issues related to employees.
The Firm has served as counselors and trial lawyers in many diverse employment and labor cases, representing national and local businesses in the vast area of employment law, including defense of individual and class action claims under Title VII (sex, race, national origin, and religious discrimination and retaliation), ADEA (age discrimination), ADA (disability discrimination), Fair Labor Standard Act (wage and hour claims), and FMLA (family leave). In addition, the Firm has prosecuted and defended claims for breach of contract, trade secrets, antitrust, unfair competition, non-compete agreements, intentional interference with business relations and defamation on behalf of businesses and employees.
